A wonderful book. I didn't like the ending but loved the story. It was not like other books.
I thought it was really adventurous because it is based on the Amazon , and most of the story is outdoors
I can really visualize in my head whats going on and what it looks like
And I liked the way that Maia's cousins Beatrice and Gwendolyn hate the outdoors Show more Show less
Journey to the River Sea is a children's book written in 2001 by Eva Ibbotson and is set in 1910. Our story begins with our protagonist, an orphan girl named Maia, who lives at the Mayfair academy for young ladies. One day she is sitting in geography class when she is called to the principal's office and is given the news that they have found her relatives, Mr and Mrs Carter and their twin girls Beatrice and Gwendolyn and that they are willing to adopt her. Maia accepts this offer and is told they live in Manus, a city in the Amazon, which is where the rest of the book is set. Well that's the end of my recap so let's get to the review! I found this book very enjoyable and I have re-read it several times. The characters are interesting and the story is engaging. This is book is my latest comfort read, and just for a while it's nice to just pick up a book and let your problems drift away... Show more Show less
