Amazing book, I couldn't stop reading it in school and I even read some of it on a playdate! Brilliant characters and a very a good story
It's a really good book, you can just read it again and again, though it's a bit violent.
This series is one of my favourites. Skulduggery Pleasant is a series of dark fantasy novels written by Irish author Derek Landy. The books revolve around the adventures of rookie detective Valkyrie Cain, her mentor Skulduggery Pleasant, and their other friends and allies. The books are quite violent and gory, but very gripping.
Stephanie Edgley lives an ordinary life in her hometown Haggard until her favourite uncle Gordon mysteriously passes away. She meets a strange man at the funeral who later reveals himself to be a live skeleton who goes by the name Skulduggery Pleasant. Stephanie persuades him to take her with him and she learns all about the world of magic. There are 14 books in the series so far, the 15th book, Until the End, is to be released at the end of March.
Valkyrie Cain (Stephanie Edgley) changes and develops so much from the confident 12 year old she was in the first few books, to the 26 year old woman who has seen and been through too much in her short life. The books are thrilling, exciting and hilarious, and Valkyrie and Skulduggery are both my favourite characters. I would recommend this to older YA readers who can handle death, misery and violent scenes in novels. Show more Show less

I absolutely loved this book.
A bit violent at the end, I wouldn't recommend this book for any age under 9 years.
